After a month on the road, here are my 5 travel truths (and a couple of truisms...):
1. Getting off the beaten path is easy. Getting back onto it is the tricky part...
2. Blessed are those born in western countries.
3. No matter the communication gap, a smile works across all languages.
4. Ask someone on the street for information and that's exactly what you get.... It pays to double check any information.
5. Life is better with coffee and running hot water. And also with paved roads...
