Mayan ruins: copan

Copan las ruinas is a pictoresque small town with some very cool ruins about a kilometer outside town.



 Double-faced carving:




Interestingly, a tortoise statue in a town which is hours from the sea.



A cool jaguar:


That little pyramid was used as podium to address a crowd in what was then a plaza that could accommodate around 6,000 people. 


And this is the main spectator tribune, right opposite

This hieroglyphic staircase has a royal chronology (amongst other things). Each step is intricately carved with this information
